Drop
me a line . . . . ..

In
the summer of 1997, from the internet, I became re-aware of a long lost
love. Kites.
As a child, My father and I sailed traditional paper diamond kites and the cheap
plastic GaylaŽ delta-bats. My all time favorite however was a simple paper box
kite. Over a 17 year span and moving of house several times, it managed to remain intact.
At present I am in
the process of getting back into kites. And the sport has changed and modernized
considerably in the last 25 years. Wooden dowels have been replaced by graphite
rods. Paper has given way to rip-stop nylon. The kites get faster and lighter
with each passing year.

Though I've enjoyed flying single line machines, more and more I am getting
involved with multi-line stunt kites. My kite bag keeps filling with these. Most
recently I have discovered Quads...WOW!! However, one of my favorites, is
my Windance. This is a parafoil, like those acrobatic parachutes, but it runs on
two lines. The result is a soft kite that you can bounce it off the ground, slam
it into a dune and let the wind drag it back up into the sky to carve continuing
shapes. The other reason this is my favorite kite is that it is DAY-GLO
GREEN.

Kites by Edo
In 1998, I bought a sewing
machine to undertake the building of kites.
After much messing around I finally got on with the
task of building a kite. I first built an extended
Keel Delta. The design comes for the Big book of Kites.
Next I completed a Centipede Windsock.
I built my linked box kite for my trip to China. Although it looks pretty good in the sky, I need to rethink the design.
